Understanding the Different Programs at FC Highland

  • by

Not all soccer players are at the same level, and that’s okay! At FC Highland, we offer three unique opportunities aimed at kids of all ages to get involved and develop their soccer skills. Let’s unpack those options to give parents (and players) a better understanding what each entails:

Competitive

It’s all in the name; our competitive league teams play in competitive games against other clubs. The competitive league is primarily for ages 7 and up. After registering, a player will be evaluated and then placed on the team we feel is the best fit for them to grow, develop and feel most comfortable! Our competitive teams participate in tournaments around Orlando and the Central Florida region. The competitive program is fun, progressive and helps foster friendships for life in a team oriented environment.

Development

Looking for ways to get your kids interested in soccer or just give a new hobby a try? Our development team is for players aged 5-7 who want to understand soccer before getting competitive or for those 7-10 with no previous soccer experience. We put the “fun” back into the “fundamentals” with this league! The 8-week program holds practices every Wednesday night and games every Saturday morning from 9-10 a.m. It’s a great way to get kids introduced to soccer and give them a chance to fully understand the basics, as well as develop teamwork.

Camp

Our off-season winter camp is open to pre-K all the way to 6th grade. Unlike our competitive and development groups, winter camp is open to all — no matter their experience or club affiliation. It’s a great way to get to know our coaches and keep those skills fresh during the winter months!

At FC Highland, we want every kid to learn how soccer can help them become a better player and leader. We believe better people make better players, which is why we put an emphasis on building up character — no matter the league. If you’ve still got questions for us, contact us and our team will get back to you.
